Army Sgt. First Class Dan Calderon, medic assigned to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), uses a metal detector to search for subsurface metal contacts in Ulingan village, Madang Province, Papua New Guinea on Oct. 6, 2022. DPAA leadership visited the Investigation Team (IT) in order to see first hand the unique dynamics of an IT and strengthen future operations. DPAA’s mission is to achieve the fullest possible accounting for missing and unaccounted for personnel to their families and the nation.
