The Hurlers stone circles, Bodmin Moor, Cornwall: view SW of S arc of N circle with central & S circles to rear. The granite stones have been hammer-dressed. The circles were excavated and partly restored in 1935-6 by Rallegh Radford. The N circle was paved, the centre one floored with granite crystals and there was a strip of paving between the N and central circles. The Pipers standing stones visible rear R are said to be two musicians turned to stone for playing on the Sabbath. The Hurlers suffered a similar punishment for playing a ball game on a Sunday afternoon.
