Curvularia geniculata fungus. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the fruiting body of the mould fungus Curvularia geniculata. Curvularia is a group of about 35 species, most of which only infect plants. However, C. geniculata can infect humans, causing onychomycosis (nail infection), keratitis (eye infection), sinusitis (sinuses), Madura foot (severe foot inflammation), pneumonia, endocarditis (heart tissue inflammation), or cerebral abscesses.
