A honey bee on a cornflower Centaurea cyanus growing on grassland in Zemaitija National Park Lithuania

Pollination of flowers by bee is one of the most important processes occurring in our natural environment, one that we take completely for granted. Although this image shows a bee pollinating a wild flower, it is also a powerful reminder of the vital role bees play in agriculture - about 80% of the world's crops rely on bees for pollintation. Without them, we simply would not have anything like enough food crops. This image was caught on grassland in Zemaitija National Park, Lithuania.
