Lucy the Elephant from front and left side. Metal fence and tiered benches in foreground. Lucy is a functioning building with windows in her flanks. She stands six stories tall, weighs 90 tons and is a wood constructed building covered with 12,000 square feet of sheet tin. Lucy depicts a male Asian elephant sporting a pink blanket with a large brown open-air "howdah" on her back. Lucy is the world's largest elephant, and the only one in America designated as a National Historic Landmark. She is the oldest example of Zoomorphic architecture. Built in 1882 and saved and totally refurbished in 1970
