Iron containing protein. Molecular model showing the structure of a bacterial homolog of the animal iron containing protein ferritin. This globular protein consists of 24 subunits and is from the bactrium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In humans ferritin acts as an iron store, and is mainly found in the liver, kidneys and spleen.
