Edible crab. Carcinologist (crustacean specialist) holding an edible, or brown, crab (Cancer pagurus) specimen. These crabs are found in the north Atlantic, North Sea and the Mediterranean, and are heavily exploited for commercial purposes. The carapace (upper shell) of this specimen measures 30cm across.
