Araucaria mirabilis tree fossil. This is an extinct species of coniferous tree from Patagonia, Argentina. It lived during the Jurassic period, 160 million years ago. Large amounts of this species are well-preserved in petrified forests after the site was buried by a volcanic eruption during the Middle Jurassic period.
