Bеrlin, Gе After the German Wehrmacht had taken the town of Pushkin near Saint Petersburg in the Soviet Union, they took the bronze monuments. This statue of Lenin by Soviet sculptor Matvey Manizer was part of the war booty. In summer 1943 it was brought to Eisleben to the Mansfeld AG smelter. As it was fairly large and there was enough metal available for smelting it remained intact.
