The London-Lewes Roman Road.—In March 1935 two sectionswere dug on the Titsey-Tatsfield parish boundary. Section No. 1. One mile east of Titsey Church, and 60 yardssouth of the Pilgrims Way. The agger is very conspicuous at this point, standing 4 to 5 feethigh on its western side, though practically level with the existingground surface on the eastern, owing to the conformation of theground, which slopes from east to west.
