The magnificent Athenaeum in King Street Stirling with a statue of Sir William Wallace at the entrance.


Editorial use only. The Athenaeum is located at the top end of King Street in Stirling with its spire and majestic statue of William Wallace (also called Braveheart). It was uilt in 1816 as a reading room or library and then in 1859 had the statue and portico added by Charles Rogers, the man also responsible for the Wallace monument located north-east of Stirling.
