The surfaceof the county is broken by various mountainranges and furrowed by many streams, givingan aspect of ruggedness, not destitute ofbeauty, to many portions of it. Among themountains and hills are some extremely richand lovely valleys, which are well cultivatedand improved. Bituminous coal, iron-ore,and fire-clay, are found in various portionsof the county.
