The father of one of two schoolgirls murdered 23 years ago has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to rape the child. Barrie Fellows's daughter Nicola, ten, and her nine-year-old playmate Karen Hadaway were strangled, sexually assaulted and dumped in undergrowth in a case that came to be known as the Babes in the Wood. Teenager Russell Bishop, who knew both girls and once lodged at Nicola's home in Brighton, was acquitted in 1987 of the double killing which remains one of the country's most notorious unsolved crimes.
