BREMERTON, Washington (May 25, 2017) Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Equipment) Maria Thompson, from Gallup, New Mexico, chips paint off one of USS John C. Stennis' (CVN 74) jet blast deflector pits for preservative maintenance on the flight deck. John C. Stennis is conducting a planned incremental availability (PIA) at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, during which the ship is undergoing scheduled maintenance and upgrades.
