St Thomas cathedral at Horniman circle in Mumbai, India. Started in CE 1672 and finished in CE 1718, it is the first Anglican church built in Mumbai.

St Thomas cathedral at Horniman circle is the first Anglican church in Mumbai, India. Begun in 1672 and finished in 1718, it is the oldest British-era building standing in Mumbai. The cathedral is a fusion of Byzantine and colonial-era architecture. It was once the eastern gateway of the East India Company’s fort, thus leading to the name Churchgate. The fort walls have now gone, but the name is preserved with the local train terminus on the western line being named Churchgate.
