The Mosque - mesquita- was constructed in four phases, firstly by by Abd-ar-Rahman I, in 785 and then extended by Abr-ar-Rahman II, Al Hakam II, and Al- Mansur. Ferdinand III reconquered Cordoba in 1236, and the mosque was consecrated for Christian main chapel, transept and choir date to 1523, and are the work of Hernan Ruiz I, II and III, Diego de Praves and Juan de Ochoa.
