Pierre Joseph Macquer (1718-1784), French chemist and physician make an experience. Macquer is best known for his Dictionnaire de Chymie (Dictionary of Chemistry, 1766). He was also involved in the practical application of chemistry to medicine and industry, including the French development of porcelain. Photographed in 1880.
