The settlers wentto Bonaparte or Farmington to mill, sent therr children to subscriptionschools in log shanties, attended class-meeting on the frontier, sowed andreaped as in other parts of the county. Harrison is one of the few town-ships organized in 1844: with its present boundaries. At first electionswere held at the house of Samuel Tilbets. In this township is located Fairview M. E. Church, which was organizedat quite an early day, and formerly called the Rhinehart society. It metin Rhineharts school-house for a number of years. They now have an excellent church building, erected about 1872, at acost of near $2,000. The membership of the society is fifty-nine. It has. Nnlton, wlio lives at Fre-mont, and preaches here eacli alternate Sabbath. Connected with thechurch is an excellent Sabbath-school, superintended by Mr. Riggs.
