Virtual fish tank exhibit at the Computer Museum in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The \tanks\" shown on the screens are populated by computer-generated fish. This is a form of artificial life; the computer modelling of animal behaviour. Some of the fish are aggressive predators and some are timid shoalers. Visitors to the centre can design their own fish and its behaviour patterns, and watch how it interacts in the tank. Some fish are friendly, approaching visitors as the interact with sensors on the screens. The exhibit shows how complex patterns emerge from simple parameters. The tank was designed by the MIT Media Lab and NearLife Inc."
