South America is home to several types of camelid; these are basically camel- relatives that weren't designed by committee. There are several types, but they can be tricky to tell apart. Here is my quick guide: Llamas are the common, shaggy one; Alpacas are smaller, cuter and have great wool; Guanacas have tall necks, less fur, and kangaroo-like faces; Vicu–a are basically smaller guanacas. That was easy! We saw lots of these in Chile and Bolivia. However, this handsome Llama is a long way from home, spotted in Heythrop Park in the Cotswolds. I wonder why and how?
