Frozen shoulder. Coloured sagittal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan through the left shoulder of a patient with a partial tear in the supraspinatus tendon. Injury to this tendon results in stiffness and difficulty in raising the arm, a condition known as a frozen shoulder. Treatment depends on the exact cause, but can include physiotherapy and anti-inflammatory drugs.
