SNAKE ANATOMY

Illustration of a snake’s pit organ. The organ is located between the eyes and nostrils which allows it to sense the heat of its prey. Infrared rays produced by body heat are sensed by the blue membrane, which transforms the infrared rays into an electrical signal that is sent to the brain.
