Radley Village, Oxfordshire, England - 11 July 2020; no people in view. An abandoned and decaying boat house by Thrupp Lake in Radley, with a flock of geese swimming past. The current pandemic and lockdown in UK has resulted in my daily local walks around my home village, Abingdon and Oxford extending to even greater distances. Here we see an abandoned boathouse by Radley Lakes - Thrupp Lake to be specific. These lakes were originally gravel pits but filled with water after being abandoned, They went on to become havens for local birds and wildlife. When a predatory power company wanted to fill some with ash, local and national environmental groups ran a successful campaign to stop this heinous idea in its tracks. Thrupp Lake - the one shown in this image - is now managed as a community nature and recreational site by the Earth !
