An alleyway in the hutongs, Beijing
The hutongs are full of tiny alleyways off of which are spacious courtyards with the home arranged around it. They were designed to house the entire family from Grandparents and parents to children. Many are still used today although there is widespread destruction to make way for more modern, wider roads in preparation for the Olympics.
