Fort John Historic marker, Janesville Iowa


Fort John, also known as Fort Barrick was a hastily constructed stockade type fort built in response to the indian scare of 1853 in which a group of Winnebago's were pursued down the Cedar River by some Sioux for a real or alleged offence. Marker is a large stone with a plaque placed by the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution).
