Mar-tin (March 21, 1813-Aug. i, 1888) was the daughterof Jacob Martin, , and the granddaughter of Martin, , who arrived in America fromPrussia, September 15, 1749. Dr. Dubbs died April i, 1910. He was a member of the Pennsylvania-German Societyfrom its very organization and at the annual meeting, heldat Harrisburg, Pa., on October 25, 1901, was electedpresident of the same. G. T. E. General John P. S. Gobin was born at Sunbury, Pa.,January 26, 1837. His father was Samuel S. Gobin andhis mother Susan (Schindel) Gobin, one of whose ances-tors came from Odenwald, Germany, before the year the paternal side he was descended from good oldRevolutionary stock, his great-grandfather, Charles Gobin,being captain in one of the Berks County associated battal-ions during the struggle for independence, serving in theJersey campaign, and in the summer of 1780 being onactive duty along the frontier of Pennsylvania. Hisgrandfather, Edward Gobin, was a soldier in the War of1812. On the maternal side his great-grandfather, PeterSchindel II., was a major in the Lebanon-Lancaster Bat-talion in the various campaigns of the Revolutionary maternal grandfather, John Peter Schindel, afterwhom
