Two of the lines occupy thelevel portions of the town, one running westward alongState street to the stations of the Lehigh Valley and theDelaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroads, and theother northward to the steamboat landing, with a recentlyconstructed branch to a pleasure resort on the lake third line, running eastward, climbs East Hill viaStale and Eddy streets, to the station of the Elmira, Cort-land & Northern Railroad. A short branch from thisline crosses the Cascadilla Ravine and enters the collegecampus, but only for a very short distance, as its presencemight interfere with the electrical work carried on in someof the college buildings. The profile shows the line be-tween the Lehigh Valley Railroad station and the several hundred feet on the hill, the grade is between9 and per cent.
