Two days later the regiment formally wasmustered out of the service. The two East St. Louis batteries went homeintact the following day, and there, too, they were received enthusiastically. The record of the 124th Field Artillery is a glorious one. Its casualtieswere the highest in the brigade. Few artillery regiments in the A. E. F. lostso heavily. Twenty-eight officers and men were killed in action or died fromwounds. One hundred and sixty-nine were evacuated.
