Holstein Friesian cattle originate from Northern Holland, Fiesland to the south and Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany. They are the highest yielding dairy cattle of the world, 80% north of Bordeaux and Venice being used for dairy and some being used for meat. They are commonly known as Friesians in Europe and the UK and Holsteins in North America
