Thorpe Thewles Railway Viaduct, Grindon, Stockton-on-Tees, c1955-c1979. A general view of the viaduct, which carried the Stockton and Castle Eden Bridge Railway. The viaduct was built in 1877 and consisted of two sections, a small three-arch span, which was demolished April 1979, and a longer span between 16 and 20 arches, demolished in June 1979. The Stockton and Eden Castle railway line was closed in 1951 and only carried passengers until 1931 on the line to Wellfield.
