AUSTRALIA IN 1846. Artist/engraver/cartographer: Engraved by J & C Walker. Provenance: "Maps of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge. A new edition, corrected to the present time", published by Charles Knight & Co, 22 Ludgate Street, London [SDUK Atlas]. Type: Antique steel engraved map with original outline hand colouring. Small parts of the coastline are still incomplete, not having yet been charted in 1846. Dates of discovery and the names of the explorers who discovered the different parts of the country are printed on the map, along with dates on which the various colonies were established.
