Eugenics exhibit at public fair. Displays and signs on eugenics being viewed by the public at the Eugenic and Health Exhibit at the Kansas Free Fair, Kansas, USA. This stall was operated by the American Eugenics Society (AES, founded 1923), with displays and regular lectures on illiteracy, birth rates, human intelligence, race and inheritance. Genetics and colour inheritance was illustrated using the caged chickens. Eugenics is the controversial practice of selectively improving the genetics of human populations. The AES was criticised for their racist assumptions and support of forced sterilizations. This photograph, dating from circa 1925, is part of the AES collections.
