Another great quicksilver mine, recently coming into renewedprominence, is the New Idria, in San Benito County. It has beenworked since 1858, and in 1868 produced 12,180 flasks. This minehas been developed to an extent of 1,500 feet, and recently largeinvestments in development and in new reduction works have greatlyincreased its producing capacity. Several of the other important mines at present producing, as here-tofore given, have extensive developments and reduction works. TheAltoona, in Trinity County, has recently undergone extensive develop-ment, and is being operated on a large scale. ^^ ^ \ ml.
