The ground color is usually a lighter blue on the females than on the males. The under side is a very pale silvery gray, with a silky lustre, and there are the following pale brown markings: a row of spots along the outer margin, each preceded by a cres- cent; a curved row of elongate spots across the disk of the fore wings; and several small spots on the basal part of the hind wings. The form Imcia has the terminal spots of the under side so enlarged and run together as to form a terminal band, and the spots on the basal part of the hind wings are enlarged and run together so as to form a more or less complete triangular discal patch, as shown in Fig. 78. This and Marginata are the smaller forms. Form Marginata has the terminal band of the under side as in Lucia, but the spots on the basal part of the hind wings do not coalesce. Form Vtolacea has the dark points and crescents on the under side of the wings quite prominent, but they do not coalesce, either in the outer border or in the basal portion. The black.
