Eucalyptus nicholii, Narrow-Leaved Black Peppermint, Willow Peppermint is a small to medium sized tree with persistent, rough bark to small branches. The bark is fibrous, coarsely fissured longitudinally, yellowish-brown to grey-brown with red-brown underlayers. Adult leaves are stalked, narrow-lanceolate, to 13-12 cm long, 1 cm wide, concolorous and dull, grey-green. White flowers appear in late summer to early autumn. Distribution is of limited occurrence on the Northern Tablelands, New South Wales, particularly in the Walcha, to Tenterfield, area and to the east. This tree is very widely planted as an ornamental in south-eastern Australia, the fine, dense foliage being particularly attractive.
