Nandrolone. Computer model of a molecule of the anabolic steroid drug nandrolone. Nandrolone has been shown to be effective in treating anaemia and osteoporosis, and also acts as a progestin-based contraceptive. It is known to increase strength and stamina, thus has been taken illegally in competitive sports. Overuse of nandrolone may cause liver damage, as well as virilisation (development of masculine characteristics) in women and infertility in men. In this model, atoms are represented as blobs, which are colour coded blue (carbon), red (oxygen) and yellow (hydrogen).
