He was Chief Engineer of theToledo, Ann Arbor, and Northern Railroad from1879 to 1881; Superintending and Consulting En-gineer of the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad obtained in Mr. Oliphants School for Boys, Edin-bridge at Toledo in 18S1-1882 ; designer and Su- burgh. At the age of twelve he returned to Canadaperintendent of the construction of the Ann Arbor and continued his preparation for college at Cobourgwater-works in 1885; and designer of the Ann and Belleville. After four yearsstudy there he received the degree of Doctor ofMedicine, and on August i, 1862, became Licenti-ate of the Royal College of Surgeons of following January he returned to America andentered the United States service as Acting Assist-ant Surgeon, working in the hospitals of St. Louis,Louisville, and other cities. In 1864 he acceptedthe professorship of Clinical Surgery and Medicinein the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons,Kingston, Ontario. In 1872 he was appointedLecturer on Surgery in the University of Michigan,and after one year was made Professor of held this position till 1889, when he resigned itto take up the practice of Surgery in Detroit.
