My dad was a contractor in Guam, and after working there for five or six years, he petitioned for us to go to Guam. That’s how we became residents of the Life in Guam was good. I started elementary school over there and finished high school. After a couple years of studying, I went back to the Philippines to study as a physical therapist. After a while, I went back to Guam, got married, and decided to join the military. My brother is also Army, so I guess it was just a call for me to join the military as well. I joined the Navy so I could travel, and since then I’ve been back here doing missions most of the time. This is my fifth time back to the Philippines, and it’s a great experience every time I come here. There’s always something different going on, and being able to help out the locals is great. I also enjoy working alongside our counterparts and the experience they have to share. That’s the best part for me.” ( Marine Corps photo illustration by Sgt. Matthew J. Bragg.
