In 1766 we find an active MethodistColony from Ireland in New York City. In 1775,Lawrence Coughlin was sent out as a missionaryfrom England to the most ancient colony, New-foundland. In 1779 several Yorkshire familiesrecently from England, in their prayer meetingsnear Amherst, Nova Scotia, were instrumental inthe conversion of William Black, who, known asBishop Black, became the apostle and founder of CANADA: AN 249 Methodism in our Maritime Provinces.
