The real Mo7it7norericy Leroy considers to be indentical with the Early Richmond of. 78.—Montmorency, English and American writers, although his description and figure of it make such association impossible. As nearly as I can deter- mine, the Montmorency of western New York is the one which Leroy figures as Montmorency, and not the Montmorency ordinaire. There is still a third French Montmorency, the Montmorency a gros fruit (i. e., the Large-fruited Montmorency), better known as Short-.
