Looking NNW at the central part of Boscawen-Un stone circle, St Buryan, Cornwall: an oval of 19 regularly spaced stones with an (entrance?) gap on W. Granite pillars except for one quartz at WSW which may be a backsight for May Day sunrise &/or a foresight for Candlemas (end of first week of February) sunset. Taller, off-centre granite pillar was deliberately erected leaning. Identified as the 'Beisgowan' of the Welsh Triads, one of the three great gorsaddau of Britain, possibly the judicial assembly-place of West Wales down to AD926. Said to be on the West Penwith Ley along with Chun Quoit. Some of the stones have been re-erected. Offerings are still left at the site, especially at the base of the leaning pillar.
