ARUNDO DON AX. This noblest of all reeds, with its graceful tropical foliage, is the hardiest and most useful of the bamboo- like plants, and is particu- larly beautiful and eff"ective when planted in an isolated position on the lawn or on the margin of a lake or stream. Last j^ear the canes of this plant with us attained the height of eighteen feet.
