Other examples of mosques built during this THE MOSQUES 125 period are the mosque of the Sultan el-Kamil, built in 1224,and the combined college and mosque which was erected by theSultan Saleh Nigm el-Din in 1242. From a study of the remainsof these two latter buildings, together with those of the tombsof this latter Sultan, and of the Imam es-Shafei, it appears that,in addition to the introduction of the new form of mosque, otheradvances were made.
