M. from 1918 to 1929, was born , 1887, in Laie, Oahu, Hawaii, theson of Jacob F. Gates and Susa was baptized Aug. 17, 1895, filleda mission to the Eastern States in1907-1910, was director of the musicdepartment of the Latter-day SaintsCollege, director of music at the UtahAgricultural College, assistant leaderof the Tabernacle choir and the firstdirector of the McCune School of Mu-sic in Salt Lake City.
