The stone building consists of a rectangular nave extended by a narrower choir terminated by a flat apse. The church has a hipped roof. The facade has three portals surmounted by arched windows. A bell tower crowns the front ridge of the roof. A stone sacristy, rectangular in plan with one storey, is erected in the extension of the choir. The church of Saint-Jean-de-Matha is set back from the public road on uneven ground overlooking the village core of the municipality of Saint-Jean-de-Matha.
