Being anatural leader, he was early chosenPresident of the freshman class at A. andM., during the session 1911-12. After completing the sophomoreyear, Thomas did not return to A. and M., but took up work in one ofthe Memphis banks. When war was declared, he had risen to the important position ofAssistant Cashier of the Mercantile National Bank, of Memphis,Tennessee. He became connected with the 32d Machine Gun Battalionin the 82d Division, and went overseas early in the war. On May 29,1918, Lieutenant Seals received a wound which caused his death. Itwas a loss to all who knew him. Besides a host of friends, Thomas leaves his parents, Mr. and Seals, Sr., and two brothers, Scott W. and Claud, [65] CHARLES KILPATRICK SEAWRIGHT Charles Kilpatrick Seawright, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Theo-dore J. Seawright, was born in Verona, Mississippi, on November 6,1894. His earlier days were spent in Verona, where he attended thepublic schools and high school. Upon graduation from the VeronaHigh School, he entered the course in civil engineering at the Universityof Mississippi. In the fall of 1917, he entered Mississippi A. and M. College, takingup the course in business administration, which he continued untilthe spring of 1918, when he volunteered. Being assigned, in May, tothe detachment of vocational training at A. and M., he chose trainingin radio operation. At the close of two months training here, thedetachment moved on to Camp Forrest, at Chattanooga, the 1st of October he was ordered overseas. While on the way,he died of bronchial pneumonia on
