Breast apocrine metaplasia, light micrograph


Light micrograph of apocrine metaplasia of the breast. The picture shows glandular breast tissue with abundant pink cytoplasm and 'snouting' or nubs of the cells seen sticking into the empty white space. Apocrine metaplasia is a completely benign finding and does not increase the risk of breast cancer. Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: 200x when printed at 10 cm.
