The gaucho is a type of peasant rider characteristic of the plains and adjacent areas of Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, southern Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul), southern Chile and the Bolivian Chaco.
