The same genei-al fault was shown in many of these samples as in those of previous years—small size. The small sample very frequent- ly falls to represent accurately the seed from which it is drawn; and the same statement was found to hold true with regard to the advertising sam- ples sent out by dealers as representa- tive of the seeds they were handling. No sample of alfalfa seed or clover seed weighing less than two ounces can be considered satisfactory, nor a sample of grass seed or the smaller vegetable seeds that weighs less than one ; Whitestone, N. DALLAS, TEX.—The Brown-Dawson Co., florists, recently incorporated with a capital stock of $15,000, has pur- chased the retail stores of the Texas Seed and Floral Co., 1627 Elm street, and the Adolphus hotel. The Brown- Dawson Co; will remodel and improve the stores, and in addition to a gen- eral florist, seed and poultry business, will add a full line of
