The over-all efficiency of the generating station to the switchboard afterallowing for the losses in the generators, exciters, racks and headgates, etc., was 88 per cent, maximum eff., and from full load down to about the efficiency of the station was over 80 per cent. VI. Station No. 2 op Calgary Power Company in CanadaThe generating station building shown in Fig. 34 is 90 ft. long by 60 , with foundation walls built up for 15 ft. of sofid concrete. Abovethis they are tile plastered internally and externally. The generators, andransmission g. Fig. 34.—Head Works and Tailrace Tunnel of Station No. 2 Calgary Power Company in CanadaThis is one of two plants on the Bow River. The site is at Kananaskis Falls, the other plant being atHorseshoe Falls two miles below. The station provides for two 5800 hp. vertical single runner reactionturbines, operating under a head of 70 ft., and direct connected to vertical generators rated at 4250 kva.,12,000 volts three-phase 60 cycles operated at 164 r. p. m. The turbines were furnished by the CanadianAlhs Chalmers Company and the generators by the Swedish General Electric Company. The switchingapparatus was sold by the Canadian Westinghouse Company. The plant was placed in operation in A. Moore was chief engineer and C. W. Allen construction superintendent.—Electrical World, April 11,1914.
